For accidents, Spanish lets the thing do it, to you: se me rompió el teléfono (my phone broke), se me olvidó (I forgot), se me apagó la pantalla (the screen went off on me). Me, te or le says who it happened to.
Hace falta + a noun or an infinitive says what’s needed: hace falta tiempo, hace falta conectar la pantalla. For a particular person, hace falta que + subjunctive: hace falta que me ayudes.
