Me levanto: verbs with me, te, se

Some verbs come with a little word that points back at the person doing it: me levanto (I get up, literally I raise myself), te levantas, se levanta, nos levantamos, se levantan. You already know one: me llamo (my name is, literally I call myself), ¿cómo te llamas?, se llama. The me, te or se goes before the verb.

  • ¿Cómo te llamas?What's your name?
  • Me levanto temprano.I get up early.

It and them: lo, la, los, las

To avoid repeating a thing, replace it with lo (masculine), la (feminine), los or las (plural). They go before the verb: ¿El libro? Lo tengo (I have it). ¿La puerta? La cierro. With no, the no comes first: No la veo.

  • Lo entiendo.I understand it.
