Hasta que + subjunctive for something still to come: quédate aquí hasta que venga el médico (stay here until the doctor comes). For the past, the ordinary forms: esperé hasta que llegó.
Llevar + a length of time + a gerund says how long you’ve been doing something: llevo una hora esperando (I’ve been waiting for an hour), llevo un mes haciendo dieta. Without a verb: lleva una semana en el hospital.
